There has been some issues over Maria joining in to play in the Fed Cup. Other Russian team members criticized Maria's father for his overzealous behavior at matches. Maria has also has some problems preventing her from playing in the Fed Cup due to injuries.This is unfortunate as the Fed Cup is the top women's tennis team competition. Participation in the Fed Cup is crucial as it is required before you can participate in the Olympics for tennis.
On a more positive note, Maria seems to be a person who gives back to the community. She has more donations to a number of worthy charities. I will not list them individually. But I bet there are a number of people who benefit from her wealth.
